Artist Statement
My artistic practice is driven by an interest in manipulating the materiality of oil paint to use it in unexpected ways that elicit an emotional response. The subjects of my paintings are my emotions, memories, and dreams which I convey through vibrant colors, patterns, and texture.
Drawing inspiration from the silent abstract designs that fill our everyday lives, each canvas serves to transform abstract concepts into representational forms where bright colors and intricate patterns converge.
Creating these paintings—from conceptualizing and planning the design to drawing and painting from my imagination—is a form of therapy. This process enables me to understand and address emotions and themes associated with the subjects or trauma. In addition, these visual narratives resonate with viewers and foster a connection through shared experiences.
